Things changed between them after that. Every time he called her, he could feel that something was off. He could not put his finger on it, though. When Jake asked her if there was something wrong, she reassured him that everything was fine. It turned out this was a lie. By that time, she had decided to separate herself from her husband and keep secrets from him.
